Portrait time!

Back to the drawing boards! Now that we have taken a slight break from drawing for a little while, its time to put those skills back into practice.

FROM OBSERVATION (Mirrors, no photographs!!!)...
Compete a self-portrait in which you revisit some of the items from your "Personal Collection" homework drawing. How ever you cleverly incorporate your items is up to you, but everything in this drawing must be drawn from observation and realistically represented.

CRITERIA & things to consider:
*Accurately represent space and figure in a perceptual, observational study by using a wide range of values and contrast through light and shadow. (Set up a light source to give you some strong contrast and to help you see the shadows more clearly)
*Create a sense of SPACE! (foreground, middle ground, background...BRING ON THE DEPTH!) Where is your portrait taking place? Can you "stage" your scene with props or a backdrop? What are you trying to tell us in your drawing?
*Cleverly incorporate some of your items from the "Personal Collection" drawing (in your drawing, will you be holding the items, using the items, showing them in the background, etc...)
*You must AT LEAST show from your torso up to your head in your drawing. If you want to include the entire figure, I encourage you to do so, but it is not required. Again, consider which pose is going to best communicate your idea.
*As always...COMPOSITION! How are you going to create a sense of visual movement throughout the drawing?
